Your workout attire depends on the class you attend, but there are three basic setups listed below. As you progress in your training you will begin to find certain styles of attire that fit your tastes and comfort:

Gi Jiu-Jitsu/Judo: A Jiu-Jitsu/Judo gi is recommended for all classes, but it is not required for your trial week. Absolute MMA offers gis for sale at the front desk, but you can also find options online.

Compression shorts or leggings are worn underneath gi pants, and a rash guard can be worn underneath the gi top. The undergarments of the gi help keep you dry and provide coverage during grappling. Beginners should always wear a white belt with their gi.

No Gi Jiu Jitsu/Wrestling: The most common type of attire for No Gi Jiu Jitsu/Wrestling is compression shorts or bottoms (sometimes called spats) and a top. Keep in mind that you will be rolling around, so garments that provide coverage to your comfort are ideal.

Muay Thai, MMA Fitness and Conditioning: Workout clothes that do not have zippers, metal, or other buttons are required. A gray Absolute MMA t-shirt is also required for all Muay Thai classes after the first week. Always bring shoes, you just never know if we will be going outside.

Training in the Martial Arts at any reputable Gym will not teach your child to become violent. On the contrary, traditional Martial Arts Classes such as the Hapkido and BJJ that is taught at Endure Martial Arts teaches peaceful resolution to stressful situations, anti-bullying techniques, and other methods of diffusing confrontations before they become physical. Students are taught that the physical skills learned through their martial arts training are ONLY to be used as a last resort and ONLY in the defense of oneself or someone that needs their protection.

Each individual will progress at their own rate. While achieving a new rank is an exciting part of martial arts training. At endure Martial Arts we are not a “black belt factory” and do not promote for the sake of promoting. It depends largely on how many classes you attend, how much you practice, etc.  It is very rare that anyone achieves a Black Belt in less than three years.

  1. FULL BODY WORKOUT

Are you looking for a new workout? Martial Arts is the answer.

Martial Arts truly provides a full-body workout. The consistent practice has shown to improve your body’s pressure response, increase overall mobility, coordination, and increase muscle.

Because so many martial arts involve repeated muscular actions over time, you will build strength and burn fat. Who doesn’t want that?

Want a way to increase strength and build muscle mass quickly and intensely? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu It is a full-body martial art. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principles of leverage, angles, pressure, and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent. This is an ideal martial arts system to accomplish those goals.

  1. INCREASED CONFIDENCE

Increased confidence is something that martial artists of all ages enjoy. Whether it’s for you or your child, martial arts can help you improve your confidence.

Practicing, improving, and succeeding at a skill improves self-image and gives participants confidence that they can succeed in other areas and ventures.

  1. INCREASED FLEXIBILITY

Repetitive movements like high kicks, low stances, fancy footwork, and ground maneuvering improve flexibility and mobility which will benefit your overall health.

Did you know that flexibility has many health benefits? Some of them include:

  • Improved relaxation of mind and body
  • Reduced risk of injury
  • Better freedom of movement
  • Improved posture
  • Reduced muscle soreness and tension

  1. BETTER COORDINATION

Martial arts require special awareness and coordinating movement with another person. Some martial arts even include the use of props and tools.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principles of leverage, angles, pressure, and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent. Unlike other martial arts that focus on strikes and/or kicks, jiu-jitsu focuses on close-contact “grappling” holds and techniques, and the application of chokes and joint-manipulations.

These factors improve the coordination and awareness of the participant’s body as well as the people and objects around them.

  1. SELF DEFENSE SKILLS

One obvious benefit to learning martial arts is an improved ability to perform self-defense maneuvers in situations where there is a real threat.

According to recent data, an aggravated assault occurs every 43 seconds in the United States. Martial arts can prepare practitioners to defend themselves in life-threatening and dangerous situations.

Firstly, this is great for children to learn to defend themselves.

Secondly for you, should you ever need to defend yourself!

  1. LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART RATE

Participants in martial arts have been shown to have lower blood pressure and heart rates. But that’s not all.

Because of its similarity to H.I.I.T. (high-intensity interval training), martial arts can improve overall heart health, lower cholesterol, and provide more regulated blood sugar and insulin levels. Say hello to a healthier body and a happier life!

  1. WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR MENTAL STAMINA? LEARN MARTIAL ARTS

Recent research showed that aerobic exercise (like martial arts) actually produced a physical change in the brain that promotes better memory and learning skills.

The same study observed that a new case of dementia is observed every four seconds globally. Those who want to prevent this debilitating condition can fight it by participating in martial arts.

This is a great benefit that many people aren’t aware of when it comes to martial arts.

  1. IMPROVED SOCIAL SKILLS

Martial arts can also help you develop social skills. This is because of the team environment. You’re working alongside people with the same goals as you, learning and growing together.

This is especially beneficial for children. In martial arts classes, they will be able to learn how to resolve conflicts, make new friends, and show compassion.

Being in a new environment can be scary for kids but learning how to navigate that situation in a safe controlled environment is a great skill that will benefit them for life.

By attending martial arts classes, you will become accustomed to direction and structure. In this environment you must pay attention to the task at hand and rid your mind of distractions.
